Tyndale Primary School

Our Curriculum

At Tyndale, our mission is to create knowledgeable and skilful learners who have ‘The best chance of success’. In order to achieve this, we provide our children with an inspirational education that inspires them to lead change and enables them to become curious, life-long learners.

Our curriculum is an intentional act of equity and empowerment, designed to extend beyond children's current experiences. It aims to equip all learners  - especially those facing disadvantage - with rich knowledge, cultural capital and the skills to thrive, find their path and live fulfilling lives.

Knowledge and Memory

  • Delivering a coherently sequenced, knowledge-rich curriculum that spirals over time, ensuring core concepts are revisited and embedded into long-term memory.

  • Strategically planning opportunities to retrieve and apply learning, allowing students to retain critical knowledge and build sophisticated schema.

Communication and Thought

  • Prioritising the development of oracy and a rich, powerful vocabulary, equipping students to articulate complex ideas, engage in meaningful debate and access demanding texts.

  • Cultivating curious, critical, and creative thinkers who can question, reason and reflect. We explicitly teach children to use language as a tool for thought - supporting them to explain, justify, and evaluate ideas with precision and confidence.

Championing Inclusion

  • Making proactive adaptations to our teaching to include every learner, including students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and those with English as an Additional Language (EAL). Our goal is for all children to keep up, not catch up, ensuring equal access to the full curriculum.

  • Embedding diversity and representation throughout our curriculum so every child sees themselves reflected and valued. We actively celebrate different cultures, histories and perspectives, promoting empathy, respect, and a strong sense of belonging within our school and local community.

Our Behaviour Curriculum - At Tyndale, we develop children’s character through our behaviour curriculum. To build character, we define the behaviours and habits that we expect our children to demonstrate. We want to support our children to grow into adults who are respectful, resilient, collaborative, independent, ambitious, and who always consider others. We believe that as children practise these behaviours, over time they become automatic routines that positively shape how they feel about themselves and how other people perceive them.

Our Character Curriculum - At Tyndale, our character curriculum is defined as education for the heart. We support every child in our care to be the very best version of themselves through nurturing talent, channelling creativity, exposing ambition and competing for excellence. Our character curriculum is a deliberate attempt to teach good qualities, skills and traits. We have the ‘Magnificent Seven Character Habits’ which are: Ready, Respectful, Safe, Ambitious, Collaborative, Independent and Resilient. Our character curriculum is integral to our academic and behaviour work and provides children with a wealth of knowledge. We sequence, build, and consolidate progressive skills to prepare children for their transition to secondary and beyond.
